I read that the name
Titum Arum was given to the flower by a British broadcaster who felt that the Latin name of the plant,
amorphophallus titanium, was inappropriate for television audiences.
This one did not smell as foul as I had expected, perhaps because it had just opened that morning.

Where did you see this? Someone told me they have a foul smell.
This is currently on display in the tropical greenhouse at the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden. The flower blossomed on the morning of July 4, and we arrived to see it that morning by sheer chance.
